A trip down memory lane

I often take a walk down memory lane, and during the past few weeks, there have been a few twists in the road. We've all heard the reference "Sandwich Generation" made about people who have both children and senior citizens as loved ones. I am ham and cheese! During August, 2010, I held our newest grandchild in my arms, and I held a loved one's hand in hospice. Both of these extremes have great meaning, and in both situations, I've loved the gift of good memories.

To celebrate good memories in my life, I created this Memory Lane folk art. Framed in a vintage gold and black oval frame, this wool needle felt of a lane, a lake, and two trees, is special to me.  With seed bead leaves, this wool wall art was a joy to create.

We are hoping for an Indian Summer here in Colorado. Warm Fall days with cool nights will help the apples ripen and the pumpkins grow fat. There is a lake by my home that has a view of the mountains in the distance. I plan to take many walks there this Fall as I keep all of my family in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for stopping by,
Georgianne

Spring is in the air--somewhere behind the snow that is falling!

The snow has been falling all weekend here in Westminster Colorado. It is a gentle snow, like powdered sugar that adds up over time. The bunny tracks in my backyard appear, are filled in by the snow, reappear in another part of the yard, and then--oh my goodness--it looks like the bunnies have been dancing with raccoon tracks! I've yet to see any of the creatures, but I am enjoying watching their footprints.

Spring is in the air though; I am longing for it anyway. I've got a hyacinth bulb inside of the house, and it is about 2 feet tall now, getting ready to blossom; so am I. I'm excited to hear baby birds in their nests, see daffodils pop out of my flower bed, and listen to gentle rain on my porch roof while I sit outside for once.

A lovely gal at eagerhands.blogspot.com included my Bird's-Eye View Pillow in her Spring is in the Air blog.

If you are ready for spring, you may want to check out Lora's collection of fresh items. I'm showing my bird pillow here for you too!

Here's hoping that where ever you are, be it warm or snowy, busy or serene, that you have a chance to nestle and soar today!

Warmly,
Georgianne

Wooly Snow Days

I do love a good snow day! As a native of Colorado, I remember with great fondness the joy of a snow day. Skipping school, eating warm soup, staying in my pajamas and building a fort! We had a good snow day here this past week, and while I did stay in my bath robe most of the morning, I never got around to building a blanket fort, which I now regret. There is a rejuvenating silliness involved in fort making.

When I have a day set aside by weather or headache or a dead car battery, you will likely find me in my studio, working with wool. That is what happened on my good snow day this week, and it was a delightful way to spend that cold day. I worked on a bluebird that I've made before, specifically into a sweet pincushion that I like.

It is hopeful to contemplate bluebirds on a snow day!

Whether or not you are given a good excuse to stay home and nestle down, I hope you get a chance to relax today. I'd love to hear about the last time you pushed all the dining room chairs into the middle of the living room and made a blanket fort!

Everyone deserves a chance to Nestle and Soar today!
